Our Clients and Projects

Community Change, Inc. (aka CareerVisions, Ltd.) is a boutique consulting firm specializing in career- and community- focused programming. Community Change, Inc. is a certified New York State Minority/Women’s Business Enterprise (M/WBE). We provide a range of educational programs and capacity building services to community-based organizations, local educational agencies, and institutions of higher learning. These services include youth development workshops, staff trainings, strategic planning and writing contracts/grant proposals.

Community Change, Inc.’s youth programs focus on the areas of community organizing (“Community Change”), career explorations (“CareerVisions”), culture (“Legacy”) and relationships/restorative practices (“Peace”). These programs are offered in 14- to 28-week residencies. Community Change, Inc. also trains teachers on its program models and a wide variety of pedagogical topics. Community Change, Inc.’s parent workshops cover an array of parenting, educational, societal, economic development, and health issues.

Community Change, Inc. has served more than 50 schools and more than 8,000 elementary, middle and high school youth, parents and staff in seven cities throughout New York State and in Africa. Our past and present projects are listed below:

Current Clients and Projects

    • Community Change-Africa (CCA)

      • CCA is the branch of Community Change, Inc. that is based in Africa. It is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that has launched a number of initiatives in Ghana since its inception in June 2017:

      • CCA partners with Africa1Media to advance artist development through quarterly seminars. These seminars support artists in thinking strategically about building their brand and business beyond their artwork.
      • CCA provides fund development support to oAfrica towards building sustainable projects in Ghana.
      • CCA’s Ama’s ARC (Academic Resource Collaborative) initiative focuses on bringing agricultural, educational and technology resources to three regions in Ghana.

      • also wrote its successful proposal to the New York State Department of Health for its Comprehensive Adolescence Pregnancy Prevention Program (CAPPP), which was awarded $1.75 million over a five-year period.

      • is developing a Civil Service Exam Facilitator’s Guide for ACS.
      • engaged a cohort of up to 200 teens in career exploration projects based on our CareerVisions Model;
      • secured $150,000 in funding from the United States Department of Juvenile Justice for ACS to develop an emergency plan for 30 juvenile detention centers in the city.

      • Community Change, Inc. provides professional development to teachers at a private school (St. Raymond High School for Boys) on the CareerVisions Model to strengthen the school’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) offering.

    • New York City Department of Education – District 12

      • Community Change, Inc. mentors teachers and afterschool staff three elementary and middle schools in the design and implementation of lessons based on our Community Change and Peace Models.

    • New York City Department of Education – McKinney-Vento Initiative

      • Community Change, Inc. implements an afterschool program based on its Legacy Model for K-5th grade students.

    • New York State Department of Education – 21st Century Learning Centers

      • Communtiy Change, Inc. engages more than 300 students in four Bronx middle and high schools in The CareerVisions Institute. This is our afterschool program model that applies our CareerVisions, Community Change, Legacy and Peace Models to a variety of afterschool clubs, including art, music and dance. This on the strength of our successful 2017 proposal to the New York State Education Department for funding (5-years; $2 million through 2023). during Community Change, Inc. engaged more than 300 students in seven Bronx high schools in our CareerVisions, Community Change, Legacy and Peace Models through STEM, art, music and dance activities. This on the strength of our successful 2013 proposal to the New York State Education Department for funding (4-years; $954,760).

      • provides neighborhoods with ongoing trainings and technical assistance to help create an agency-wide culture of restorative practices.
      • has provided capacity building services to Phipps Neighborhoods in the areas of marketing, recruitment and retention.
      • provided a two-day Restorative Practices Mini-conference for 100 of Phipps Neighborhoods’ employees.
      • collaborated in the writing of two successful proposals totaling $20,000 to the New York City Department of Education to provided capacity services to the agency.

    1. Claremont Neighborhood Centers – NYS Department of State Community Service Block Grant

        their Healthy Marriage – Relationship Education Program (HMREP).
      • grant writing services that directly resulted in the award of the aforementioned a 5-year, $10
        million initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Healthy & Human Services HMREP.
      • our CareerVisions Institute in six cities throughout Westchester County in April. This project
        engaged high school youth in six high schools in career explorations based on their hobbies and
        interests.
    6. New York City Department of Education – District 10

      West Bronx Academy.

      • provided teachers at the Yonkers Middle School with mentoring professional development based
        on our CareerVisions Model, as they engaged students with disabilities in career explorations as part of Yonkers Public School’s Socio-Economic Integration Program.
      • provided teachers at four middle schools in Yonkers with professional development based on our CareerVisions Model, as the district’s Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR-UP).
      • Also wrote the successful proposal for GEAR-UP funding to the NYS Higher Education Services totaling ($1.68 million).
