Community Change, Inc.’s programs have been replicated by ten different youth service providers in 41 public schools and four community centers; serving more than 3,000 K-12th grade youth in seven different cities statewide. Two programs have been accredited by the National Community Education Association. Community Change, Inc.’s impact on student participation and achievement is well documented. Most recently, The Afterschool Corporation’s (ExpandEd Schools) 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) End of Year Evaluation Report Year 2: 2014-15 (2015) of a 21st Century Community Learning Center program that was based on both models and contracted to serve 200 students. A total of 278 students actually participated, exceeding the target enrolment by 39%. Of those students, 174 (63% of actual enrollment, 87% of target enrollment) were regular participants (attended the program for 90 hours or more). This is significant in comparison to the regular participant rate of 34% by other ExpandEd Schools-evaluated high-school programs. Additionally, 45% of participants in the program increased their English report card grade from the first to final marking period, compared to 39% across similar sites evaluated by ExpandEd Schools the same year. 50% of participants increased their math report card grade from the first to final marking period, compared to 37% across similar sites evaluated by ExpandEd Schools. The Community Change Model is a two-time winner of ExpandEd Schools Promising Practice Award.
